Dr. C. Prabhakar Reddy has a career spanning over two decades in the field of Engineering education. Starting as a Lecturer in 1980, after completing his Masters with Distinction, he acquired a Doctorate on I.C. Engines in 1995 in a record time of 3½ years from R. E. C. Warangal (A.P.). He is one of the youngest academic senate member for VTU under which 122 Engg colleges operates and one of the key member involved in decision making about the various activates of the VTU.

He has published 63 Technical Papers in National / International Conferences/ Seminars / Journals in the last 5 years. He is at present guiding 4 students pursuing the Doctoral Program of JNTU (Hyderabad) and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. He is also a Co-coordinator, responsible for preparing and getting sanctioned three MODROBS projects under AICTE scheme at Vijayanagar Engineering College, Bellary.

He was a LOCAL INQUIRY COMMITTEE MEMBER between 1999 and 2001, a Board of Studies Member for P.G. and U.G. courses twice each of 3 years duration and functioned as a Board of Chairman once for Gulbarga University. He established I.C. Engines, Fluid Machines and Heat Transfer labs single handedly in Vijayanagar Engineering College, Bellary.

Even while discharging his duties as an Educationist, he was involved in organizing an All India Seminar on Alternative Sources of Energy and its impact on environment, Seminars involving experts from I.I.T. Madras, I.I.Sc. Bangalore, R.E.C Tiruchirapalli, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry and experts from industries, ISTE Convention at Bharatiyar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikal. As ISTE Chapter Secretary, right from inception of the chapter at Vijayanagar Engineering College, Bellary, he organized seminars in various fields such as Teaching methods, placement, Communication skills, industry-institute-relationship etc.

In spite of his busy schedule, he has taken the lead role in ISO certification of Bharatiyar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikal, organized Gulbarga University- Intercollegiate Sports at Vijayanagar Engineering College, Bellary for 1998-1999 and is a Member/ Fellow of many High Level Academic Technical Bodies in India/Abroad, such as Institute of Engineers, Indian Society for Technical Education, Society of Automotive Engineers, Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Power, and Combustion Institute.
